Sports associations for disabled people from across the Southeast of England entered teams and participated in the many events including bowls, table tennis, snooker, archery and many more. Our rotary club has a long tradition of organising and running the petanque competition. Petanque is sometimes better known as Boules and requires competitors to throw a weighty ball, similar to a tennis ball in size, attempting to get as close as possible to the jack which is a small ball about the size of a large marble, initially thrown by one of the competitors. Two competitors play each game and each competitor takes turn to throw the jack. Three “ends” are played, each end being won by the competitor who gets one of his four balls closest to the jack. The game is played on a gravel pitch. The competition is played on a knock-Visit of District Governor 7th August 2008
